Metro in Moscow will extend through the construction of express lines


The city authorities plan to extend the metro in Moscow region by the construction of express lines, reported by the head of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning, Alexander Kuzmin, a government meeting in Moscow on June 28.
"Our challenge is to consider Moscow and Moscow region as a single metropolitan area, so for those works which we have previously envisaged, it is proposed the construction of express subway lines that will link Moscow and Moscow region" - said Kuzmin. According to him, these works are expected to parallel the extension of the radii of the subway and the construction of third interchange circuit. The first area of express lines called Kuzmin east region. Study should be completed in 2011.


In addition, said the head of Moscow Committee, the Moscow railway stations should be transport interchange nodes. Also, according to Kuzmin, should be put in order the railway station platforms and turn them into mini-TPU with a transfer to buses, and in some cases, on the subway.
